Indian Medical Association (IMA) strongly oppose against Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) to stop the movement to use the "Dr" prefix before Pharm.D course holders.
Before some days, PCI has clearly maintained in a written order that the prefix "Dr." will be with added before the name of the candidate who awarded the degree of Doctor in Pharmacy (Pharm.D).

But now, IMA reported to the Union Medical Ministry and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to take a step against the inappropriate announcement by PCI.
According to IMA, medical students are selected according to their merit. So, this is not fair, to dilute medical students with pharmacists, nurses and other professions. All of them have a different space in the healthcare field. The appropriate entitlement is necessary. The use of the "Dr" before a pharmacist and other profession is illegal.
IMA demands to Govt. of India, to use the authority and settle the issue as per the law. IMA also demand to PCI to take back that unlawful order.
In the report, IMA also writes against the bridge course.
Now everything on the decision of Govt. of India.
